To improve the fault location efficiency of global system for mobile communications (GSM), the GSM Maintenance Department develops the Fault Manager Assistant (FMA) for fast fault location and troubleshooting.
The FMA analyzes faults based on the following data sources:
l Man-machine language (MML) script of the base station controller (BSC) (in the .txt or .zip format)
l Alarm file of the BSC (in the .txt, .zip, or .csv format)
l Original traffic measurement of the BSC (in the .mrf or .bz2 format)
l Operation logs of the BSC (in the .txt, .bak, or .csv format)
l BSC signaling (in the .tmf format)
